Sonam Gagyel Lekphell is the dynamic Chief Operating Officer of Welcome Travels, a young and passionate business leader with a vision to transform the Bhutanese travel experience. Known for his energy and strategic mindset, he plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations and innovative guest services.
He pursued a specialized Chinese language course at Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), China — an experience that has enriched his global perspective and allows him to connect effortlessly with Mandarin-speaking guests.
Fluent in Chinese, Hindi, Nepali, and English, Sonam bridges diverse cultures and languages, ensuring exceptional hospitality for travelers from all backgrounds. He is deeply committed to efficient logistics, guest satisfaction, and quality control — making every journey with Welcome Travels seamless and memorable.
When he's not fine-tuning travel operations, Sonam enjoys cultural exchange, learning new languages, and engaging with travelers to share Bhutan’s unique stories with the world.

Karma Dorji is the visionary founder and CEO of Welcome Travels, one of Bhutan’s most trusted travel brands. With over a decade of experience in tourism, technology, and hospitality, Karma brings together deep local insight and a global perspective to craft unforgettable Bhutanese journeys.
A passionate advocate of sustainable and meaningful travel, he has led Welcome Travels in curating personalized itineraries that highlight Bhutan’s spiritual essence, pristine nature, and vibrant culture — all while prioritizing guest comfort and authenticity.
Karma Dorji is also known for embracing innovation, blending digital tools with traditional values to ensure every guest experience is seamless, secure, and soulful. His leadership has positioned Welcome Travels as a bridge between Bhutan’s timeless charm and the modern traveler’s expectations.
When he’s not designing dream itineraries, Karma is often found innovating digital access for tourism, photographing hidden valleys, or sharing stories of Bhutan with the world.
He also was the Minister for Labour and Human Resources, and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Employment, under which the Department of Tourism / Tourism Council of Bhutan was.
