Every Journey Tells a Story

Why Travel with WELCOME TRAVELS?

โœจ Personalized Guidance & Flexible Itineraries

Always stay in touch with your guide. Whether you walk fast, prefer a slower pace, or want to swap places on your itinerary, just share your preferences. Bhutan is full of unexpected surprises, so flexibility is key.

? Travel Like a Local, Not a Tourist

Longer itineraries give you more options. Instead of visiting another monastery, you might choose a museum or a nature hike. Use your itinerary as a guide, not a strict plan.

? A Journey Just for You

Your trip is completely private. You wonโ€™t be grouped with other travelers, so you can enjoy the flexibility and focus of a personalized experience.

? Weโ€™re Always a Click Away

Your dedicated travel coordinator is available before and during your trip for a seamless, stress-free experience.

? Traditional Dress: What to Know

Bhutanese traditional attire is beautiful and can be purchased locally. Wearing it at Dzongs requires ceremonial scarves and long socks for men.

? Hotels, Preferences & Helpful Tips

Tell us your hotel preferences or special interests in advance. We tailor your experienceโ€”whether you prefer comfort, culture, or luxury.

? Booking & Pre-Trip Info

Confirmations & Booking Access

Your trip is confirmed within 2 weeks after the down payment (longer during peak seasons). Youโ€™ll get access to our Guest Portal with full itinerary and tips.

Buddha Dordenma Statue in Thimphu, Bhutan

โ€œA symbol of peace, harmony, and spiritual strength.โ€

Perched atop a hill overlooking the Thimphu valley, the
Buddha Dordenma Statue is one of the largest sitting Buddha statues
in the world. Towering at 54 meters, the golden structure is both
a spiritual icon and an architectural marvel.

                        Construction: A Marvel of Engineering

Constructed piece by piece in China and later assembled in Bhutan,
the statue is made of bronze and gilded in gold. Inside, it houses
over 125,000 smaller Buddha statues, ranging from 10โ€“12 inches in
                        height, each crafted with care.

                        Dochula Pass

Perched at an altitude of 3,100 meters, Dochula Pass is one of Bhutanโ€™s most scenic and spiritually significant landmarks, located on the road between Thimphu and Punakha. The pass offers sweeping views of the snow-clad Himalayas, including the mighty Gangkar Puensum, the worldโ€™s highest unclimbed mountain.
Dochula is more than just a viewpointโ€”it is a place where history, spirituality, and natural beauty converge. The pass commemorates the bravery of Bhutanโ€™s fourth king, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and the Bhutanese soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 2003 military operations against Assamese insurgents. Following the victory, the King returned to Thimphu on 28 December 2003, leaving behind a legacy of courage and national pride.
                        The 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens
At the heart of Dochula Pass stand the 108 memorial chortens, known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens, built under the initiative of Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. These chortens are a profound tribute to the fallen soldiers and symbolize peace, harmony, and resilience.
Arranged in three concentric layers, the chortens create a striking visual composition against the backdrop of pristine mountains:
                        โ€ข First layer: 45 chortens
                        โ€ข Second layer: 36 chortens

Each chorten serves as a spiritual beacon, inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and experience Bhutanโ€™s deep Buddhist traditions.

Travelers can enter Bhutan by road through four official land border crossings from India. Each entry point offers unique advantages based on your travel route and destination within Bhutan:
                                1. Phuentsholing (Western Bhutan)
โ€ข Most popular and busiest land entry.
โ€ข Located adjacent to Jaigaon town in West Bengal, India.
โ€ข Ideal for those traveling from Kolkata, Siliguri, or Bagdogra Airport.
โ€ข Entry leads directly to western Bhutan destinations like Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha.
โ€ข Well-developed facilities with immigration, hotels, and transport connections.
โ€ข Approx. 6โ€“7 hour scenic drive from Phuentsholing to Thimphu.
                                2. Samtse (South-Western Bhutan)
โ€ข Located near Chamurchi town in West Bengal.
โ€ข Lesser-used entry point compared to Phuentsholing.
โ€ข Suitable for travelers exploring south-western regions or seeking a quieter route into Bhutan.
โ€ข Facilities are improving but may be limited; check in advance for travel advisories.
                                3. Gelephu (Central Bhutan)
โ€ข Borders the Indian state of Assam.
โ€ข Best for entering central Bhutan, especially Trongsa, Bumthang, and Gangtey.
โ€ข Suitable for overland adventures through the scenic Black Mountains.
โ€ข Less commonly used due to longer travel distances from Gelephu to the central and western regions.
โ€ข Immigration and customs facilities available, but remote route requires advance planning.
                                4. Samdrup Jongkhar (Eastern Bhutan)
โ€ข Adjacent to the Indian town of Darranga in Assam.
โ€ข Main land gateway for travelers entering eastern Bhutan, including Trashigang, Mongar, and Lhuentse.
โ€ข Ideal for those coming from Guwahati Airport (approx. 3โ€“4 hours away).
โ€ข Offers a unique opportunity to explore the less-visited eastern regions of Bhutan.
โ€ข Route involves a cross-country drive westward if you plan to visit Thimphu or Paro.
๐Ÿ›‚ Important Tips for Overland Travelers:
โ€ข A valid Bhutanese visa or permit is required for all foreign travelers (except nationals of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives).
โ€ข Immigration clearance must be done at the entry point.
โ€ข Indian nationals require a valid ID (passport or voter ID) and must obtain an Entry Permit at the border.
โ€ข Itโ€™s advisable to enter Bhutan during daylight hours, as some checkpoints may not operate in the evening.
โ€ข Vehicle permits are also needed if driving or hiring a vehicle across the border.

What is a Hot Stone Bath? ๐Ÿ“–
This unique Bhutanese ritual uses fresh river water infused with Artemisia leaves ๐ŸŒฟ for medicinal benefits. River stones are roasted over fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ until glowing red and added to a wooden tub via a chamber, releasing minerals into the water for healing properties.
                                The Process Step-by-Step ๐Ÿ›
Preparation: River water mixed with Artemisia leaves to create medicinal "Menchu."
Heating: Stones heated to red-hot and placed in a connected chamber (no direct contact to avoid burns).
Infusion: Heat and minerals from stones infuse the bath, creating a soothing, therapeutic soak.
Duration & Enhancements: Relax for 1-2 hours โณ, sipping a hot beverage. Follow with a salt scrub ๐Ÿง‚ to exfoliate and an oil massage for muscle relief.
